Spring says “Keep Southwold Special!”

February 29th, 2012 — 11:29am

Possibly the nicest seaside town in Britain, we all know Southwold is special (yes, we are biased!) but how how can we make sure it stays that way?

You can air your views at a public meeting at St Edmund’s Hall at 7:00pm on 12th March which will kickstart the development of a plan for the town. Want to know more? Contact the town council

Spring’s daily three minutes.

February 28th, 2012 — 1:40pm

We’re really pleased with the beautifully-honed new website we’ve created for Southwold’s first fitness centre, Gem Fitness.

Headed by YMCA-qualified fitness instructor Gary Matthews, Gem Fitness is the perfect place for Southwold’s visitors and locals to keep fit. Spring’s created a high impact marketing programme for Gem, deploying social media including Twitter and Facebook as well as a direct mailing campaign.

Gem Fitness offers a range of training from post-injury rehabilitation right through to one-to-one personalised sessions for marathon runners, as well as group classes. If you need to tone up before you lose your winter layers then come and join the Springers for a Spinning class with Gary.

As for three minutes exercise a day to keep you fit? Well, we’ll be interested to see the evidence in the Horizon programme tonight!

Spring’s Oscar votes are in

February 28th, 2012 — 1:28pm

We’ve been voting for our favourite red carpet dresses at the Oscars.

Meryl Streep was an elegant grand dame, great exposure for Angelina in that slashed to the thigh number and we loved Gwyneth’s understated style. Swoons from the older Springy girls for George, too.

Perhaps now’s the time for us to get Spring-ready with a trip to see the new season’s range at Spear and Hubble.

Feb 18th Southwold Concert Series

February 15th, 2012 — 11:33am

We are enjoying week-before-a-concert-footfall this week – Southwolders and music lovers from further away have been popping in in their droves to buy tickets for Saturday’s concert from returning favourites The Sacconi Quartet.

In an experiment to protect our audience from the rigours of an east coast February night we have retimed this concert for 3.00 in the afternoon, making this concert one of the first in the past four years to take place fully in daylight hours. The programme is:

Franz Joseph Haydn – Quartet in G major, op.77 no.1

Béla Bartók – String Quartet no.3 (1927)

Edward Elgar – Piano Quintet in A minor, op.84

Since their formation in 2001, The Sacconi Quartet have become recognized for their performances of style and commitment and consistently communicating with a fresh and imaginative approach. They perform a highly contrasting programme of quartets by Haydn and Bartok, as well as Elgar’s epic Piano Quintet, on which they collaborate with the series’ Artistic Director, Nathan Williamson.

A quartet of genuine substance.’ The Daily Telegraph

Great power and sweetness…intimate closeness.’ The Spectator

Tickets are, as ever, just £12 to include an interval drink courtesy of our co-sponsors, Adnams. All attendees are invited to become Friends of the Concert Series for a fiver a year – this largely goes to support the work of the Concert Series, but also ensures you are kept up to date with news and receive the beautiful season brochure each year.

The Box Office is at Spring, 4 Church Street (open 9-5.30, Monday to Friday) or by calling Lucy Aldous at Spring on 01502 726161.

Spring launches Chapman site

February 2nd, 2012 — 3:03pm

We are delighted to announce the launch of the new website for Hertfordshire based Chapman Ventilation.

Chapman was formed in 1967, and in 1968 they were commissioned by Peter Boizot, founder of PizzaExpress, to install a canopy and ductwork for one of his first restaurants. Chapman Ventilation quickly established itself as a leading provider of ventilation (and later, air conditioning) to the restaurant industry.

Chapman Ventilation is still family owned and run, with David and Anthony Chapman having taken over from their parents more than 10 years ago. The company now handles between 70 and 85 restaurant projects every year.

Clients include Jamie Oliver, Pizza Express, Nandos, Raymond Blanc, Hix and Loch Fyne.
