Flags for goalposts

May 27th, 2011 — 3:52pm

Here’s George with an enormous flag. This and a few others will be accompanying a host of other materials (and some Springers) to Grass Roots next Friday, for Mark Harrod.

Grass Roots is the largest football show in Europe, and takes place in Birmingham every year. It’s a huge undertaking for Mark and his team, so we’re on hand to help out and provide PR support at the event – having spent the last few months preparing for it with him and his team.

Spring in Design Week, 28 April

April 28th, 2011 — 11:17am

We are delighted to have secured a large article in Design Week for our work with the Heritage Lottery funded refurbishment of Woodbridge Tide Mill. Not only that but we’re sharing page 5 with our neighbours, Adnams, and my old Attik colleagues, Simon Dixon and Aporva Baxi.

Simplicity works for Bollinger

November 12th, 2010 — 9:34am

Bollinger is the official champagne of England Rugby. (Funnily enough, another of our clients, James White Drinks, is the official Beetroot Juice of England Rugby too. What an interesting cocktail we could make.)

Anyway, this month is the Investec Internationals, in which England takes on New Zealand, Australia, Samoa and South Africa on successive Saturdays. Quite a month for them, and one full of opportunities for followers of Bollinger on their blog or twitter account, since every week we are offering people the opportunity to guess the final score. Closest one wins a bottle of Bollinger Special Cuvée. It’s that simple.

In marketing terms it’s often the most simple of competitions like this that really work, and we’ve received a deluge of entries for the first two weeks. Regular reminders on twitter encourage response, and the simplicity of the mechanic makes it a quick dip in for fans of Bollinger and rugby.

We’re not making any guesses for this week’s game against Australia, though England’s slow start against the All Blacks last weekend cost them dear and will undoubtedly spur them into playing well against their old rivals the Wallabies.

Tractors. Great, big, shiny tractors.

November 11th, 2010 — 1:15pm

I love tractors. Old tractors, so ancient that they’re held together by the rust and roofless, driven by crag-faced farmhands whose only other mode of transport is an antediluvian bicycle. New tractors, shiny and aggressively branded, powering across farmland scattering wee beasties in their wake.

I grew up in a farming community and live in one again now and there’s always been something about tractors that makes me profoundly happy. In fact, I pretty much learned to drive in one, on my best friend Rosie’s farm, if crashing through fields screaming with laughter can be classed as learning.

So, I am delighted to report that our designs for New Holland dealer Robert D Webster go live tomorrow! Last minute tweaks are taking place today.
